Air Jordan 5 Retro SP "Off-White"
The Off-White x Air Jordan 5 is Virgil Abloh’s rendition of Michael Jordan’s fifth signature shoe that incorporates the former’s deconstructed design ethos. The NBA All-Star Weekend 2020 release omits the Jordan 5’s traditional leather construction for a light grey synthetic, semi-translucent material. Circular designs with Abloh’s signature Nike branding motif can be found on the inside of each shoe over the midfoot netting. For the first time ever on a non-original Air Jordan 5 colorway, embroidered Nike Air branding appears on the heel. White “23” detailing covers the heel near the midsole and a fiery red Jumpman covers the 3M-reflective tongue. A pre-yellowed outsole gives the Off-White Jordan 5 the already-worn-in vibe that Abloh often prefers to include on his collaborations with both Nike and Jordan Brand. Release date: February 2020.
Key Points:
Fighter Jet Midsole: Features the iconic "shark-tooth" design on the midsole, a tribute to the nose art found on WWII fighter planes.
Quarter Panel Netting: Features plastic mesh window inserts on the side panels for enhanced breathability and a technical look.
Ankle Support & Padding: Known for its "bulky" but comfortable profile, featuring a heavily padded collar and asymmetrical "anatomical" foam to lock the heel in place.
Inner Details: Many models include an upside-down "Air Jordan" patch on the inner tongue—a classic detail from the original 1990 production.
Translucent "Icy" Outsole: The first model in the Jordan franchise to utilize a clear rubber outsole, providing a distinct, premium aesthetic.
